How to Use Margin Line Identity Function in Shining 3d Aoralscan Software to Improve Clinics Workflow Efficiency
When visiting our clients, we found that some dentists in clinics and technicians in labs always spent lots of time confirming the margin line. Is the margin line so important and why is it so difficult to identify? Is there a better way to draw the margin line?
Yes, the margin line is very important in digital dentistry, because wrong margin line can lead to failure of teeth design. Labs may make mistakes if dentists cannot draw the margin line in the intraoral scanner software. And the dentists will need to spend lots of time to communicate with labs by using screenshots or pictures. Therefore, more and more dentists now choose to use digital solutions to improve their working efficiency.
In the Shining3D’s Aoralscan software, we released Pre-Design function for dentists to draw margin line and check occlusion. The margin line could be saved with the teeth data and automatically marked on the teeth when the data was imported into design software, which could save lots of time for both dentists and lab technicians. There used to be a dentist mentioning that he always needed re-scan when using some other brands of intraoral scanners, because the lab found too much undercut in the design software and he needed to get the patients back and re-scan the teeth, which not only wasted but also brought uncomfortable experience to the patients.
There will be no such problems with the Shining3D’s Aoralscan. Dentists can check the undercut in each step. For example, the undercut can be checked after the upper jaw scanning, and can be adjusted and re-scanned for patients if needed, which is much more convenient for both dentists and patients.
